I have the honour to request your
sanction to building grants-in-aid not exceeding $1,500 -
and $7,000 respectively being made towards the cost of --
constructing a Roman Catholic Vernacular School at Aberdeen
and of extending the Ellis Kadoorie English and Vernacular
School in Victoria.

The Roman Catholic Vernacular
School at Aberdeen is an existing institution which had in
1904 an average daily attendance of 39.34 and is at present
housed in a building reported to be dark and unsuitable.
The Inspector of Schools states that there is room for it
at Aberdeen as well as for the District Anglo-Chinese
School which will be started there next year. The Director
of Public Works is of opinion that the plans that have been
submitted show a probable expenditure on school premises
sufficient
